The U16s cruised through their group and managed to stop each of their three opponents scoring any points. They then played a very physical and direct Kirkham in the quarter final but played some wonderful sevens to progress to the semi-final. Next up was Ambrose and they pushed the OS right to the final whistle but our U16s managed to hold on for the victory. The final saw the team matched against the hosts, Stoneyhurst, who had a very large and vocal group of supporters. The boys defended ferociously during the opening exchanges with Ed Lord making one of a number of try saving tackles. Possession was turned over and the OS scored a breakaway try. From the kick-off Manuel Quirante-Gomez made a huge hit to turn the ball over again, creating the second try. A moment of brilliance from Todd Moyse set-up the third and they went in at the break 17-0 up. The team played just as well in the second half, scoring a further two tries to run out deserving winners 31-5. This was the first time in the competition's history that our U16s have won this tournament, a very well done to all the boys involved.
