Community Service
Community Service takes place on Thursday afternoons and is offered as an alternative to continuing CCF or joining a conservation project. It primarily involves 5th formers, although some choose to stay on in the Sixth Form.
We currently have 30 boys doing Service, mainly placed in one of two local primary schools where their presence and help with games, music, computing and individual learning support is greatly valued . They benefit too, by learning to have someone dependent on them, by using their skills, and by contributing to the life and functioning of a community other than the narrow one of their own school.
A group of sixth form boys visit local housebound and disabled people in their own home, in conjunction with the Ryder-Cheshire volunteers, and again learn vital interpersonal skills, bringing variety and interest into the lives of others
