The continuity of education for pupils at The Oratory School remains our top priority.
In the light of the UK Government’s announcement that all UK schools should shut we have taken the decision to transfer our provision fully online with Remote Learning* commencing from 12.30pm, Friday 20 March, until further notice.
We will teach remotely at the normal lesson times and according to the full Summer Timetable as best as staff are able to given their own circumstances.
Lessons will be recorded so that students who live in different time zones from the UK can access them when they are able to. For 5th and 6th Form these remote lessons will be very much an interactive lesson experience, as much akin to a normal lesson in school as possible.
For 1st and 4th Form the remote lessons may entail a more task-based approach during which pupils will be able to access teacher support as they complete the various tasks set during their lessons.
All students are expected to be present and to ‘attend’ lessons each day during term-time and academic staff will take a register of attendance in each lesson (live and recorded). For those students who live overseas and are in a different time zone, they will have 24 hours after the delivery of the lesson to watch the recording.
Thank you for your support at this challenging time. I have received many supportive and kind messages in the past few days. I am very grateful to you for this support, to the boys for their forbearance and good humour, and to my colleagues for their dedication and professionalism. I hope you and your families remain safe and well and wish you a joyous Easter, when it arrives.
With best wishes
