National Schools’ Regatta

9 June 2017

On the Bank holiday weekend the boat club competed at National Schools Regatta. The school joined over 6000 competitors from over 150 schools and clubs on Dorney Lake; the Olympic rowing venue.

On the first day of the regatta the 3rd Form coxed quad raced well in some very windy conditions.

The first eight and the 4th form coxed four raced on the second day. The first eight battled hard in challenging conditions to place in the top 15 crews in school first eights. With qualification for Henley just three weeks away more improvement is needed but the eight is on the right track.

The 4th form coxed four beat Canford and Kingston Grammar School to place in the top 15 schools and clubs in the country.

On the last day of the regatta the school first four reached the semi final of Championship Coxed Fours, beating the top crews from Abingdon, Pangbourne, Latymer and Winchester. The under sixteen four beat local rivals Pangbourne twice to finish in the top 16 crews in the country.

This weekend the first eight races at Reading Regatta on Saturday and Sunday where all support is most welcome. On Saturday the school races local rivals Reading Blue Coat at 13:12.
