11 June 2018

On Sunday 10 June two hundred boys, families, staff, former colleagues and governors were in chapel for a Mass of Thanksgiving to mark Mr Marland Green’s 29 years of service to The Oratory and Mrs Debbie Green’s 18 years in the IT department. The liturgy of the day was celebrated as usual with the Schola leading the chant and the hymns and a large team of sacristans serving in the sanctuary. Fr Kenneth picked up on the words of Jesus in Sunday’s Gospel reading about the dangers of human division. For nearly three decades Mr Green’s Wednesday night talks at Roll Call in FitzAlan have stressed the words “Oratory Family” as we seek to live out our motto Cor ad cor loquitur. First of all this means the communication between the heart of God and our hearts but that communication is then played out in our love for each other as a school family within the love of Christ. As a community we thank Marland, Debbie and Katy for their contributions to our life here and assure them of our prayers for the future.
