Full-bore Rifle shooting started at the OS in the late 1990’s and since then has rapidly grown and now has major sports status at the OS and a flourishing Old Oratorians Club, (The Oratory Cardinals Rifle Club). Most of the shooting takes place at Bisley in Surrey, although there is an annual trip to Scotland and plans for an overseas tour on the horizon.

The shooting is target rifle shooting (7.62 or 0.308 calibre), over distances from 300 to 1,000 yards without a scope.

The OCRC has training sessions throughout the year the next one is due to be on 18 April and other key dates are:

  • Astor Heat – 10 May
  • Berkshire Open – 17 May
  • The Scottish Open – 5 – 7 June
  • Ashburton Day & Public School Veterans & OCRC BBQ 9 July

The club is in the process of buying some additional kit, but in the meantime if you give us enough warning we should be able to sort something out. So if you would like to get involved, regardless of whether or not you shot at school, then please get in touch with either the Captain: Henry Gilbert (henry.r.gilbert@uk.pwc.com) or the Secretary: Chris Mitchell (chris.j.mitchell5@gmail.com)
