The Oratory’s Corpus Christi Mass & Procession

Yesterday we held our annual celebration for the Feast of Corpus Christi, which this year focused on Benediction and a Procession across the school grounds. Corpus Christi is a particularly important Feast for Catholics as it celebrates the mystery of the Eucharist as the Body of Christ and the True Presence of Jesus in the Eucharist.

Members from across the school community were involved with the gardeners and Housemothers helping to decorate the outdoor Chapel and collect flower petals for the procession. We started with the Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament in the Main Chapel before moving outside, where the CCF held a Guard of Honour to mark our path onto the Head Master’s lawn. We walked across the Head Master’s Lawn and the cricket pitch to reach the outside Chapel, to the beautiful sound of the Schola. Alongside the Wootten First form scattering petals to mark the processional path, the School Captains carried the School banner and the House Captains had the honour of carrying the canopy, under which was the Blessed Sacrament. Once the procession reached the outdoor Chapel the school community then continued to celebrate Benediction, before the Sacristans, School and House Captains accompanied the Blessed Sacrament back to St Joseph’s Chapel.
