Boarding Life

The Oratory Family

Boarding at The Oratory will provide a foundation for life, success, and personal friendships that last forever.

Our boarders experience a nurturing home environment under the supervision of our outstanding Housemasters and Housemothers. We also offer our boarders a whole host of new social and cultural opportunities that contribute another dimension to their broad Oratory education.

Our school week runs from Monday to Saturday. Sports matches take place on Saturday afternoons; the rest of the weekend is taken up with an array of exciting activities and trips. Our boarding houses are located centrally on our safe and secure campus so pupils also have full use of our amazing onsite facilities during their free time.

Houses are central to life at The Oratory. Our junior pupils are part of St Philip House until they graduate into Senior Houses, while all other pupils are assigned to one of our four senior Houses when they join the School and remain part of that House during their time with us. Our boarding staff are friendly, approachable, and highly professional. They offer pupils help and advice at any time of the day or night.

All pupils, day and boarding, live in their Houses together. The pupils benefit from a family atmosphere, living in a close-knit environment structured in a similar way to siblings in a family, where older and younger boys and girls can learn from each other and offer support to one another. The result is that every pupil is integrated into a cohesive and supportive community in which they have the confidence to thrive.

"The best aspect of the school is the close-knit community that is developed over the course of an Oratory School life, I have made friendships that will last a lifetime"

Boarding Types

Day Pupils

Our day pupils stay at school during teaching hours and return home at the end of each day. All our day pupils are assigned a room within our boarding houses, giving them their own space to unwind and opportunity to socialise with their peers.

Full-Time Boarding

Our boarders experience a nurturing home environment under the supervision of our outstanding Housemasters and Housemothers. The school is as busy at weekends as it is in the week. On Saturdays the pupils have morning lessons and afternoon sports matches; Sundays are taken up with an array of exciting activities and trips and pupils have full use of our amazing facilities. During Exeat weekends a boarding house will remain open, ensuring boarding is always available.

Weekends

Weekends are an integral and busy part of the boarding experience at The Oratory. All pupils are offered a huge range of activities.

Flexi Boarding

Designed to suit the needs of the family, with flexi boarding pupils can stay at school from 1-4 nights. This means they don't have to miss out on any opportunities that are available after school hours and at the weekend. The flexi option can also be a great way to introduce pupils to boarding, allowing them to get a feel for it before committing.

Weekly Boarding

This option allows pupils to board during the week and go home for weekends.

With our boarding we aim to meet the needs of each individual family
