A large group of Old Oratorians gathered at The Oval to watch the T20 Bash between Surrey and Gloucester, in particular to support Gloucester’s Benny Howell - a former Oratory pupil. Benny is highly regarded in this form of the game and has been receiving rave reviews from the cricket pundits.
The inclement weather during the week was on everyone’s mind - “…would the game go ahead…?” A respite from the rain from mid-day raised expectations that the game would take place. However, the rain returned just before the start but fortunately did not last long enough to disrupt it.
Gloucester won the toss and chose to bat first - it proved to be a valuable toss to win.
Despite the late downpour to disrupt the last eight overs, it was an exciting game, and a clear example of why this format has become so popular. It provided a very entertaining evening for the OOs who were there. A good time was had by all.
