The Oratory School attended the Model UN 2019 Conference at Queen Anne’s School this week.
Nineteen junior pupils from The Oratory researched and prepared resolutions to bring forward to the committee debates on several global challenges.
Several Oratory topics were voted forwards and debated after the initial lobbying process.
We heard from a United Nations High Commission for Refugees Aid Worker on his experiences whilst working in the Bosnian conflict of the 1990s. This provided the delegates with a much improved understanding of how political decision making has real consequences on the ground.
The conference was led by pupils and was an excellent local event with five schools represented.
We look forward to expanding our Model UN opportunities in the future!
