The senior girls played their first Oratory netball match against Shiplake College on Wednesday 28 April.
All nine players were very excited to be representing the school for the first time. As soon as the first whistle blew, the rain started. However, spirits were not dampened and the girls fought hard in the first quarter to go 8-2 up, with great shooting from Amelie and Georgie. Defending skills from Natlie and Didi proved effective. Substitutes in the second quarter resulted in another 8-2 score, with strong central court plays from Amber, Orla and Rosie, and more excellent shooting from Kala and Amelie.
After an empowering half time talk, and a few more substitutions, the team produced their best quarter, conceding no goals yet scoring 11, with great central court play from Hebe. Unfortunately, within the first couple minutes of the final quarter, after scoring just one goal, play was abandoned due to injury. An unfortunate end to a great first match.
We are so proud of all the girls who represented the school for the first time. Huge thanks to all the staff and students who supported, even in the rain!
