The school marked Ascension Day in great style on Thursday 10 May. This Day of Obligation has now been restored by the bishops to the day given in Holy Scripture for Our Lord’s Ascension – the fortieth day of the Easter season. The St Philip House boys were at Mass early in the morning before leaving for their theatre trip. As ever, four of the boys served the Mass in St Joseph’s Chapel. The senior houses gathered in the main chapel before lunch for a Sung Mass. Fr Kenneth’s homily asked how we might best interpret the word “Up” as well as reminded us, in an old phrase, that the Ascension shows that “matter matters to God.” The serving team was out in force. We now turn our excited gaze in chapel to next Sunday’s Confirmation Mass. Please pray for the 17 candidates and for Bishop Robert.
