Requiem for Old Oratorians

9 November 2018

Thursday 8th November saw former pupils, staff and friends of the Schools gather at The Little Oratory in Brompton for their annual Requiem Mass for deceased Old Oratorians.

Fr Kenneth Macnab, Chaplain to The Oratory Schools celebrated the Mass, and Fr Richard Biggerstaff was the guest preacher. The Head Master of the OS, Mr Joseph Smith, the School Captain, Edward  Bromilow, and the Chairman of The Oratory Schools Society,  David Connolly, did the readings.

The beautiful singing of the choirs of The Oratory and The Oratory Prep directed by Stephen Burrows made for a very moving experience. Especially remembered were those Old Oratorians who had  died in the last twelve months, and the 84 who gave their lives in the Great War.

A reception after Mass at the Rembrandt Hotel nearby gave everyone an opportunity to meet and catch up. Old Oratorians from all decades were there from the mid-1950s onwards, some meeting contemporaries they had not seen since leaving school!
