The Oratory School Hosts Inaugural Knight Frank Schools Triathlon

The Oratory School was delighted to welcome over 800 pupils from 38 schools for its inaugural Knight Frank Schools Triathlon on Sunday 8 June.

Aspiring triathletes ran, swam and cycled a total of 1,700km combined, equivalent to the distance between Guildford and Valencia! In the process, a staggering £110,000 has been raised for global youth charity Restless Development and over 30 other charities chosen by the participating schools.

This is the first year that The Oratory School has hosted the event and it was certainly a day to remember. It was a truly community centred occasion, with local businesses and over 2,000 attendees coming together for a feel-good event. Generous volunteers and Oratory pupils, parents and staff all kindly gave up their Sunday to ensure the event ran smoothly.

Lots of inspiring stories came out on the day, including top fundraisers Acquilo, Alexander, Luna and Sophie who raised an incredible £2, 761 for charity. When asked if they had any advice for other young people taking part they said, “Have fun, don’t give up and don’t listen to anyone who says you can’t do it.”

Matthew Fogg, Head Master of The Oratory, says, “The Oratory was delighted to welcome everyone to our inaugural Schools Triathlon. It was a fun-filled event for all, and we are delighted with the funds that have been raised for such a worthwhile cause. Thank you to everyone who helped make this event happen, and to the event sponsors, Knight Frank and Neilson Active Holidays. We are already looking forward to hosting again next year!”

This event is one of a national series of Schools Triathlon events organised by Restless Development, which trains, mentors, nurtures and inspires young people to use their youth power and lead change, in line with The Oratory’s own ethos to ‘Be you. Become more.’
