Matthew Fogg, Head Master, says "The question I am asked most frequently by parents is about school mobile phone policy. I have been searching for a system that balances removing phones as a distraction whilst also allowing pupils to learn the skills we all now need to properly manage devices in our working lives."

SchoolsMobile is a system that allows school and parents to easily shut down any distracting apps (such as social media and games) during lesson and meal times, whilst also constantly ensuring that pupils are kept safe from harmful content. The aim is to:

• Stop threats, hacks and suspected scams
• Keep children safe from harmful content
• Develop healthy habits with simple parental controls

Matthew Fogg explains, "It is important that pupils understand what this system does and does not do. It is not spyware and it cannot read what the pupils are doing on their phones. Equally it does not track them physically. It simply recognises incoming and outgoing traffic as social media, games etc., and then blocks this from arriving. We are able to tailor the levels so that 6th Formers have far more access than 1st Formers. I am convinced that this is an important development for the school. Therefore the school policy will be that any phone brought into school from the end of January's Exeat weekend must be covered by SchoolsMobile."
