Loquitur Talk with Rupert Haig-Holmes

On the evening of Tuesday 28 April, we were delighted to welcome Old Oratorian Rupert Haig-Holmes (OS: 1983) as our guest Loquitur speaker.
Rupert spoke to Academic Award Holders and members of our 6th Form about his recent biography of the military leader, Lieutenant General Sir George Lea, a ‘first generation Special Forces soldier’ whose career, from trooper to SAS commander, was more than a little distinguished. Rupert’s talk focused on Lea’s quiet manner and charismatic leadership style.
Rupert has had a lifelong passion for military history and speaks on a diverse range of military history topics. Rupert has donated a copy of the biography, The Soldiers’ General: The Biography of Lieutenant General Sir George Lea (Barnthorn, 2025), to The Oratory library. We thank him for his fascinating talk and look forward to welcoming him back in June.
