Oratory Racquets Tour to Paris

There was no let-up for The Oratory Racquets Club as the summer holidays began with an exciting tour to Paris.
Following an early departure, the tour got underway with Real Tennis and Squash at the Paris Racquets Club, located in the heart of the city, as the pupils prepared for their matches against the club the following day. In the afternoon, the group explored some of Paris' most iconic landmarks, including the Arc de Triomphe and the Eiffel Tower, before enjoying pizza together while watching the World Cup.
The following day proved to be a highly successful one on court, with Oratory pupils recording a clean sweep of victories in both Real Tennis and Squash against our hosts at the Paris Racquets Club. The team's success was celebrated with an afternoon of shopping along the Champs-Élysées, followed by another evening of World Cup football.
On Wednesday, the group travelled out of the city to the magnificent Palace of Fontainebleau, where they had the unique opportunity to spend time on its historic Real Tennis court. Experiencing the game in such an iconic setting was a memorable highlight of the tour. Later that day, the pupils also enjoyed padel at a local club, contrasting the new and the old.
The final day was devoted to sightseeing, taking in many of Paris' cultural treasures, including the Louvre, the Tuileries Gardens, and Notre-Dame Cathedral, before rounding off the tour with a trip to the top of the Eiffel Tower, providing spectacular views across the city and a fitting end to a memorable and successful visit.
Mrs Fahey, Head of Oratory Racquets, says, "It was wonderful to be able to take pupils on another oversees trip, having recently visited Bordeaux and America. The clubs in Paris and Fontainbleau were very hospitable and it was brilliant to be able to take in so much of the city."
