Further Maths A Level and Oxbridge success at The Oratory

This year's A Level results at The Oratory saw top scoring marks averaging 98% for our strongest Further Maths candidates and an Oxbridge placement.

Yoonho scored an incredible 98% (294/300) in A Level Further Maths, achieving an A* grade. In addition, he also gained A*s in Chemistry and Physics, and a B in Music (Total: A*A*A*B), having already scored an A* in his Maths A Level in 2024. Yoonho is headed to the University of Warwick to study Maths.

During L6th Form at The Oratory School, Yoonho received the prestigious Roentgenium certificate in the University of Cambridge Chemistry Challenge. This is the highest accolade, awarded to the top 0.5% of students who complete the competition and who achieve the highest scores. It is a testament to their exceptional chemistry knowledge and problem-solving skills.

In addition, Yoonho is a Grade 8 organist who has successfully passed his Associate of the Royal Schools of Music (ARSM) diploma. Last year, he was awarded a Cricket blazer in sport, in recognition of his commitment to scoring - he’s been a key part of the team.

Matthew Fogg, Head Master, says "This young man has been an absolute credit to The Oratory School and a perfect example of our ethos “Be You, Become More”.

Yuvraj achieved an amazing 97% (291/300) A* in Further Maths, A* in Maths, A* Chemistry and B Economics (just 1 mark off an A grade). He has secured his place at the University of Oxford to study Economics and Management.

Yuvraj joined The Oratory as an Academic Scholar in Year 7 from The Hill Primary School. He says that being in a smaller independent school has enabled him to seize every opportunity available to him. During 6th Form he was President of the Model United Nations (MUN) club and the Windhover Public Speaking Society; Head of the Economics Society; Vice President of the Adelphi Debating and STEM Societies; Captain of the Maths Team; and an RAF Sergeant for the school’s Combined Cadet Force (CCF). In between all of this, he found time to complete his Gold Duke of Edinburgh Award!

Vishal Handa, Head of Oratory Economics and Business, says “Yuvraj is a real asset to the school. In addition to his intellectual prowess, he is a role model to current Oratorians. Always composed, humble, amiable and approachable. His work as an Academic Prefect with younger students has been invaluable.

Yuvraj is one of the student founders of the inaugural Oratory Economics Society and one of its most active members, demonstrating creativity and flair. It is no surprise to us that he has gained his place at the University of Oxford on a course which is widely regarded as one of the most competitive in the country with a 5% acceptance rate. He is truly on course for realising his full potential. We are all so proud.”

Of his results, Yuvraj says, “I'm especially grateful to my friends, family and everyone at The Oratory School, for their support throughout the Oxford Application process* and for my wider A-Level experience. I'm looking forward to seeing where this incredible opportunity will take me!”
