New Pupil Induction Day with One Day Film School

We were delighted to welcome new pupils for their Oratory induction day with our friends One Day Film School! The One Day Film School offers a great way for our pupils to get to know one another in a relaxed environment, while working in groups and learning to appreciate teamwork.
Roles within each group consisted of a Director, a Producer, a Cinematographer and Actors. Ed from One Day Film discussed what each role meant to a fascinated group of pupils, who already knew an impressive amount about the film industry, from their favourite film directors (George Lucas and Sofia Coppola); famous producers such as Barbara Broccoli, and Cinematographers such as Hans Zimmer. They discussed how you can make a good film with no money, and equally a bad film with millions!
The pupils' task for the day was to create a 2-minute silent movie on an iPad using iMovie, the only limits being their imagination! The day culminated with an Oscars Award ceremony judged by the Head Master, with Oscars for the best film, best individual performance and best technical achievement (for a film that impressed the most with camera work, editing and sound effects). The winning film will go into the main One Day Film competition with entries from other independent schools, the prize being a private screening of their film at Disney HQ, London, followed by a preview of the latest movie release before anyone else (last year, it was the new Captain America).
