Oratory Racquets' South Coast Real Tennis Trip

It was another busy weekend for The Oratory School’s Racquets Club as they embarked on their annual junior racquets tour.
On Friday, 30 pupils travelled to Hayling Island to visit Seacourt Tennis Club. Whilst at Seacourt, the pupils were given the opportunity to play a variety of different sports: Real Tennis; Badminton; Pickleball; Tennis and Squash. It was great to see the progress pupils made across the various sports and how quickly they adapted to the different disciplines.
Saturday morning was spent on the waterfront in Portsmouth, taking in Spinnaker Tower, on the way to Canford School. Whilst at Canford, the pupils played their host at Badminton, Squash and Real Tennis. The group put in an encouraging performance, winning both the Squash and Real Tennis while losing a close contest in Badminton.
The final day of the trip was spent in Winchester and at the Padel Hub in Reading. The group enjoyed visiting Winchester Cathedral and learning about the history of the city before their internal Padel competition.
Mrs Fahey, Head of Oratory Racquets, says: “it was another great tour. It’s been brilliant to see the popularity of the trip and racquets sports grow over the last few years, and I was delighted with the standard of play. It was also great to see pupils who might not be strong players find a sport they enjoyed and make progress over the weekend”.
It was also another successful weekend for U6th Form student, Archie, who came Runner-Up at the Real Tennis U19 British Open Doubles.
