The Oratory's annual Hockey Club Dinner

Oratory Hockey enjoyed a wonderful Saturday evening celebrating all their hockey achievements from this term.
The evening began with speeches from the Captains, Immi Martin and Lizzie Briscoe, who spoke about their team players.
The Oratory was then delighted to welcome guest speaker and former Olympian and National League hockey player, Kali Takher, who has represented both Team GB and England. Playing at top level for over 24 years, he has received 104 caps! Kali entertained the audience and even got the girls involved in some team games. His inspirational speech covered how he discovered hockey and the commitment needed to make it in the game.
Congratulations to all the award winners:
- Most Improved 2nd XI Player 25 - Aisha L.
- 2nd XI Player of the Season - Lizzie B.
- Most Improved 1st XI Player - Amelia C.
- 1st XI Player of the Season - Immi Martin.
Victoria Watson, Head of Hockey, says "Well done to our girls, who continue to dig deep and have played some fantastic hockey this year. This season has brought new challenges, new expectations to live up to, and new pressures to rise above, and they have met these challenges with courage and determination.
This year, the girls were extremely lucky to be coached again by John Shaw, ex-GB and England player, for a couple of pre-season training sessions. Since then, the quality coaching from my team of Mr Dodworth and Mr Austin, and the support from Miss Keenan, has continued to develop the girls’ abilities throughout the season in all the age group teams. I would like to thank them for their continued dedication to the girls alongside the many hours of driving and umpiring of matches that they have done.
We look forward to continued fixtures next term on our new Caritas All-Weather Pitch, which opens in January."
