The Oratory Launches the ‘Oratory Six’ for 2026-2027

The Oratory introduces the 'Oratory Six' programme for the 2026/27 academic year.
Building Foundations for Success – Learning Beyond the Classroom.
The Oratory's newly implemented ‘Oratory Six’ course has been developed in conjunction with the Learning Skills Trust to address gaps in ‘core skills’, the fundamental competencies that allow individuals to thrive in all aspects of life, not least in formal education.
The 'Oratory Six' will enable pupils taking fewer than 10 GCSEs to participate in interdisciplinary projects and practical challenges through a personalised study programme.
The focus of the programme will be on explicitly developing the following core skills through extended interdisciplinary project work and coaching:
- Communication
- Numeracy
- Problem-Solving
- Collaboration
- Self-directed Learning
- Information Technology
Pupils will monitor their progress in skill development and construct a personal portfolio to showcase their achievements.
While the assessment of core skills is across all aspects of school life and not focused on academic subjects, which have their own particular demands, the course will enhance academic study through its emphasis on pupil self-development and reflective learning. This learning culture is in line with The Oratory's ethos of enabling our pupils to 'become more', empowering them to find a place at the top of their tree.
