Meet Alex, The Oratory School Captain for 2025-2026

Meet Alex, our School Captain for the academic year 2025–2026...

Alex joined The Oratory School in Year 9 from Christ Church Cathedral School on an Oratory Music Scholarship. Alex wanted to find a school that equalled the warm and nurturing ethos of CCCS and develop the musical foundations that had already been laid – The Oratory has been the perfect match.

Alex has entertained us all at our monthly music recitals both with his amazing voice and playing the trombone. Alex has found that these regular performance opportunities have really helped him grow in confidence as a performer and take his craft to another level. His most recent achievement has been to receive a distinction in his ARSM singing, a testament to his hard work and dedication to music.

Not content to confine himself to the rehearsal room, Alex is also Vice President of our Adelphi Debating Society, Model United Nations Co-President, and is in the process of preparing a talk on revision tips and guidance for our Windhover Society.

Having achieved excellent results at GCSE, Alex has received an offer from University of Oxford to read Music. He will be taking his A Levels this summer in Music, Maths and English Literature.

Stephen Burrows, Director of Music, says "“Alex came to the school with an impressive range of musical skills and it has been exciting to help nurture his talents further here at The Oratory. He has grown to be a fine musician, with an exciting musical future ahead of him. He has recently achieved an
impressive distinction in his ARSM singing. His prowess on the trombone is impressive, being as at home in both classical and jazz styles."

We are incredibly proud of how Alex has taken on and maximised all of the opportunities on offer to him here at The Oratory and look forward to seeing what the future holds!
