Played on a course presented in excellent condition, the fixture produced three highly competitive singles matches and plenty of impressive golf from both teams. 

Representing The Oratory were Austin, George and Dan. Austin led off for the team and looked in complete control during the early stages of his match. Playing some excellent golf, he raced into a 4-up lead after the front nine. However, his Claires Court opponent mounted an outstanding comeback, carding a series of pars on the back nine to steadily reduce the deficit before eventually securing the match on the 17th hole. 

With The Oratory trailing 1-0, George knew he needed a result in the second match. After a slow start left him 2 down, he responded brilliantly, producing some of his best golf of the season. Gradually taking control of the match, George combined solid ball-striking with confident putting to turn the contest around and claim an impressive victory on the 15th hole, levelling the overall score at 1-1. 

The tie would therefore be decided by Dan in the final match. Things did not begin according to plan as his Claires Court opponent played some excellent golf to move 2 up after just two holes. From that point onwards, however, Dan was simply outstanding. Hitting every fairway off the tee and driving the ball superbly throughout the round, he dominated the remaining holes. His relentless accuracy and consistency proved too much for his opponent, and by the end of the 13th hole, Dan had built a commanding 7-up lead, putting the match beyond reach and securing the overall victory for The Oratory. 

The fixture was played in excellent spirit and showcased both the competitive nature and sportsmanship of school golf. Thanks go to Claires Court School for a closely contested match and to The Springs Golf Club for providing a fantastic venue.

The victory sees The Oratory School progress to the next round of the Cup, with the team looking forward to carrying this momentum into their next fixture.
