Remembrance Services at Oratory School and Woodcote War MemorialNew News Story

A whole school Act of Remembrance Service took place at the school's War Memorial Garden on Armistice morning.

This year, wreaths were laid on behalf of The Oratory School by Mr F. Gargent, a Governor at the school, the Head Master and Mr P. Poynter (OS: 1993-1998), an Old Oratorian and teacher at the school.

Remembrance crosses were laid in memory of Old Oratorians Capt Andrew Griffiths and Lt Peter McCarthy RM by Major S J Bosher, Contingent Commander of Oratory CCF and SUO A E C Star.

In the afternoon, a service of prayer took place for the three Old Oratorians whose remains are buried here at Woodcote: Richard Donegan, Wilfred Patrick Thunder and John Michael Butchers, who all died in July 1940. 6th Form Prefects laid wreaths in remembrance of them.

On Remembrance Sunday, it was an honour to once again be a part of the Woodcote Memorial Service with Oratory CCF Cadets forming the parade and two of our Oratory 6th Form musicians sounding the Last Post and Reveille.
