    Getting Involved

    Get involved

The whole community has its place in the Catholic Life of the school. Pupils of all faiths and none are very much a part of the school community. Everyone is welcome to take part promoting the work of Chaplaincy and pupils are encouraged to serve the community in a particular ministry of service.

The Schola Cantorum and Consort enrich our worship with music drawn from the Christian choral tradition built around the structure of the Church’s liturgical year and this involves large numbers of pupils in the choir, playing their instruments, and singing.

Sacristans, altar servers, ushers and eucharistic ministers assist the Chaplain and take responsibility for preparing and celebrating the liturgical services in school. A Head Sacristan in St Philip House organises a rota of pupils to assist in the school Chapel, House Masses, and in serving the local community.

The time pupils spend at The Oratory School passes very quickly and pupils are encouraged to make the most of the opportunities available to them and, with the help of others, make a lasting contribution to the continued growth and development of community life in the school and beyond.

The Catholic Faith and the two chapels are central to the school’s life, ethos and identity. Newman’s vision of an education for the whole person through individual care has always involved mind, body, and soul.

    Chapel Charities

Each year we have a dedicated chapel charity for which we pray and raise money.  In recent years these have included the Apostleship of the Sea and Aid to the Church in Need. In November the school is lit up as part of ACN's Red Wednesday for persecuted Christians.
